YOEME UNIDOS MURAL

Sonoran Stitch Factory was proud to provide the space for the Yoeme Unidos mural. This was commissioned by the Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage as it focuses on empowering Indigenous youth to take the expressive traditions passed down from their communities and their own artistic style to paint their understanding of traditional stories, cultural figures, and epic histories in a collaborative mural. Muralists Ignacio Garcia and Anitra "Yukue" Molina of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe worked with seven youth from the Pascua Yaqui Clubhouse of the Boys and Girls Club of Tucson. Working together, they designed and painted the mural, expressing their own cultural heritage beyond just the well known Deer Dancer. The mural was officially unveiled on June 26, 2022.
